In March of 2008, new truck speed legislation was proposed by Transportation Minister Jim Bradley. The bill will require all large commercial vehicles traveling in Ontario to install speed limiters (microchips that limit a truck’s maximum speed). If the legislation is enacted, the top speed a truck could travel would be 105 kilometers per hour.
Transport Canada (TC) recently released the results of several studies it commissioned that deal with the safety, environmental, economic and operational implications of the speed regulators. To see the studies, visit: http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/speed_limit/menu.htm
